Long Description: “Gothic Gals” shine on this mini shrine as the focal point. We will explore polymer clay as the basis for mixed media art using a variety of techniques. During class, alter and embellish a wood shrine substrate with clay, gothic images, textures, gold leaf foil, acrylic paint and “doodads”.
Short Description: “Gothic Gals” shine on this mini shrine. Explore polymer clay as basis for mixed media art. Embellish your shrine using clay, textures, gold leaf foil, acrylic paint, mica powders, decoupage and “doodads”. It’s play time!
Materials students should provide: 3 x 2 oz packages of Sculpey III, all of the same color for the background. Suggest Umber or darker brown clay. Small jewelry pieces/ornaments, metal beads and rhinestones as embellishments.
Materials provided by the instructor: Small wood shrine substrate, silver and gold leaf foils, royalty free printed images of gothic gals and birds. Additional tools and other materials (paints, glue, texture & rubber stamps, clay cutters and clay ovens) available to students for use during class workshop.
Fee: $60 for ASA members and $65 for non-members. $12 materials fee. Plan to pay with cash or check at the beginning of class
Expected ability Level: No experience necessary.
