Four day series – Mondays, March 4th, 11th, 18th and the 25th, 2019

Description: This class will focus on the basic skills of drawing, based on Betty Edwards’ book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Using a variety of exercises the workshop will provide practice to help students render drawings that give the illusion of three dimensional images and scenes. Structured practice and feedback will help participants see and overcome common problems and set the foundation for continuous improvement.

Short Description: So you think you can’t draw? Explore the fundamentals of drawing in a guided drawing workshop facilitated by Bill Cary, based on Betty Edwards’ Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Develop your perception of edges, spaces, light and shadow and their relationship to one another.

Experience level: Beginners

Fee: $60 for ASA members and $80 for non-members. Plan to pay with cash or check at the beginning of class.

Materials students must provide: #2, #4B drawing pencils, gum or white plastic eras-er, #4B graphite stick, natural charcoal sticks and pencil, white paper drawing tablet, pa-per towels.

Materials instructor will provide: The instructor will provide a copy of “The New Draw-ing on the Right Side of Your Brain Workbook” for each student plus a variety of drawing tools for students to sample.

Number of students: Minimum 3 / Maximum 10
