Description: In this workshop we will learn to take all of the beautiful landscapes that surround us to their basic, somewhat abstracted from. We will focus on color and value, on texture and focal point and learn how to push realism in a new unique direction.

Short Description: Take your landscape paintings in a new, more simplified and abstract direction. Learn the basics of abstraction and how they apply to landscape. Study color, value, texture and focal point and produce multiple paintings.

Experience level: Some experience helpful but not required

Fee: $120 for ASA members and $130 for non-members. Plan to pay with cash or check at the beginning of class.

Materials student must provide: Your favorite medium to paint in, watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, etc. Substrates you prefer, canvas, board or paper. Brushes and palette knives. Texture gels, wax and anything else you love to use.

Materials provided by instructor: $20 fee. For less experienced or new artists, I will provide everything mentioned above for a small materials fee and teach you how to use the medium you are most interested in. I will be painting in oil and cold wax and in acrylic.
