Chinese Watercolor – Instructor: Laurel Pollock 503-984-2612
This is a four session series of classes. Plan to attend all classes.
This class is designed for beginners. We will be learning the ancient art of Chinese Brush Painting, specifically, a landscape, as depicted in an ancient scroll displayed at the Portland Art Museum as part of their permanent Chinese art collection. (See photo) Students will use authentic Chinese materials to create a multi-layered Chinese Watercolor.
You CANNOT use regular watercolors or regular watercolor paper for this process.
Materials provided by students: Paper towels, a vessel for water, 2 small ceramic dishes, drawing ink, a flat board to use as a drawing surface (can be padded) paper clips or rubber bands, a water spritzer, an open mind to different ideas & techniques.
Materials provided by the instructor: Chinese watercolor brushes, special paints, rice paper (covered by class fee)
Fees: $100 for ASA members $120 for non members – The class fee covers the materials provided by the instructor.
