TreasurerKathy reported that we will change how we pay members for the cards and other small priced items sold at Beachstone Gallery.  Rather than paying weekly, they will be paid monthly.

Mosaic Mirror Workshop – Instructor Gene Sterud.

Friday, November 16, 1 – 4 PM.

Make a mosaic mirror in one 3-hour session.  Each work is unique and depends on our choice of design and materials. $5 for ASA members + $15 material fee.

Creating Textures in Watercolor – Instructor Bonnie Holubetz.

Saturday, December 1, 10AM – 4 PM

Creating textures in your artwork enhances the visual impact of your piece.  In this class you will create a personal library of over 50 different techniques.  $50 for ASA members.

GalleryThe new gallery display has the theme, “Story Telling”.  You may bring in a 3 X 5 card with a note, poem or story to accompany your art.


Two pieces of art per display member.  Deliver your new work and pick up your current work by October 8th.  Store you work in the art intake space under the copy machine.


The rehanging will take place on Wednesday October 10.  If you would like to help please call JoAnn 971-242-9500


Featured artist for October is Richard Laycock


The theme for our winter display will be, “Winter Hues” The students from Taft high school will cater that opening in January.

FacilityOur building has a fresh coat of paint and looks much better.  We are very happy with the painter who charged $7500.

Inside the gallery, we will add support to the window frame so that it is easier to hang items in front of the windows.


LandscaperThe new landscape maintenance company is doing a good job.


Gallery HostingThere is a calendar posted in the kitchen for members to sign up. We would like to staff the gallery with a host on weekend days when no class or activity is scheduled.  Plan to host from late morning until midafternoon.  Use a table near the door to the gallery.  Work on art projects and display your work if you like. Explain ASA, hand out brochures, encourage people to vote for “people’s choice”.  The question was asked, “should we have a guest book for visitors?”
Pacific Artists Co-opCatherine reported that the Co-op is updating their signs including the new logo designed by Cindy Adams.  Also, they are changing their sales method to include iPads and Square instead of the current credit card method.

Some artists are interested in a holiday season art sale in the classroom.  No date has been set.

ASA Update September 25, 2018

Tonight, Tuesday, September 25
 is the monthly potluck and member meeting.  Come at 6 for potluck supper.  We will start our meeting around 6:30.  Meet fellow ASA members, enjoy a social evening and find out what’s new.

Summer classes are wrapping up this week. The fall class season begins October 1st.  Here’s a peek at a few.

This week, in a salute to the full moon, Arlon topic will be painting moonlight.  Join us on Thursday from 1 – 4 PM

Our coffee and art conversation this week on Wednesday, September 26 will meet a little early at 11:30, because a class starts at 1:00.  Our topic this week is using shading and tonal value for perspective.

There is still space in this Saturday’s intriguing watercolor sketching class called, “Capturing Your Life One Drawing at a Time”.  Winter classes are now online.  Look them over and book your place early.

Join Arlon this Thursday when he teaches us how to paint drops, raindrops, dewdrops, teardrops; this will be fun.

Thanks to Steve and the ASA board for getting the building painted.  Doesn’t it look great?
